Doris Lessing

This year, at the age of 88, Doris Lessing was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. Ms. Lessing independently ended her formal education at the age of 14.

Lots of European awards, an honorary degree from Harvard, and now the Nobel Prize for literature. That Ms Lessing educated herself by reading voraciously is amazing. Her writing is of a very personal nature, but somehow manages to touch us all.
