Purina One 5

I see two kinds of reviews here - the one-star reviews by people who like to talk like experts but really have nothing to offer but rumors and scandalous accusations, and the five-star reviews by people who have actually fed this stuff to their pets and seen happy, healthy, long-lived dogs. I have a Siberian Husky who is complimented every time we visit the vet for his yearly checkup - she marvels at his gorgeous, shiny coat, the spring in his step. She has no problems with Purina ONE - but I guess as a pet-care expert and the doctor for hundreds of dogs her professional opinion wouldn't matter much, huh?

If you are reading these reviews to get a feel for the quality of this food, please be responsible and disregard all the naysayers who think they know what they're talking about but have not one stitch of practical experience. Pick through those reviews by people who say they have actually USED the product and I think you'll see the accurate picture.

I used the product and I still do not think it's a good food. Like I said, my dog would vomit and get the runs fairly often. Once I switched her food she hasn't been sick once. I used the food for 7 months. Just because your dog does well with the food does not mean that people who have used it are lying that it didn't do well for them. The accurate picture is that ONE will work for some dogs and will not work for others. Simple as that.

The point is that many if not most of the bad reviews on non-holistic foods are from people who have never tried the food on their dog and are trying to manipulate the ratings because they worship their own opinon. It sounds like this was truely a bad food for your dog and I hope he is fully recovered.

Tried and true is the best so far for dog nutrition.

This food does not have quality ingredients. A lot of the line has CORN and limited amounts of meat. Just like when someone is 300lbs and they say "well I carry my weight good for my size" or "I am in good shape" I ask them when was the last time they ran a flat mile and most won't or can't answer. If you don't want to read or understand the label that is your choice but its the Dog that suffers. I see parents letting their kids eat McDonalds all the time. I see parents at the grocery store with their kids loading their shopping baskets full of chips, candy, high card items and rarely a veggie or some lean meat or some fruit. Bottom line here is you can fool yourself all you want but when your dog is gone you will wonder if you could have extended his life by giving him something healthy to eat or just keep giving him Big Mac's all the time.
