My computer recently fell victim to "Virus Protect" spyware. Remember that name and be very, very afraid if you ever see it warn you that you have been attacked. Believe the warning, too.
After innocently clicking on an Active X upgrade I've never before seen(probably a scam)I started receiving warning messages of an attack...coming from my desktop toolbar. I now had a new icon there as well.
When I went to google Virus Protect, I found my home page had been hijacked, and a new toolbar was installed on Internet Explorer. Checks in my hard drive showed a nasty infiltration, and deletes could not be performed. Within 24 hours, it was blocking my ability to navigate to Yahoo e-mail and Google.
I purchased popular-name anti-spyware, and it failed miserably...went on to waste more money and time...
The next day, I was back to the drawing board. I had downloaded the free trial version of SpyNoMore and it turned up thirty or so associated attackers, all a part of Virus Protect's army of invaders. All but three were missed entirely by my other program. When I registered my copy by paying a fee (for some reason I was able to navigate to Spy No More's site during the hijack) I hit 'Remove" to see what it could do.
In literally seconds, I watched SpyNoMore wipe out and remove the entire army of attackers. I restarted, and all my problems were gone. There was no sign whatsoever of Virus Protect in my computer, Internet Explorer, or anywhere.
I would give this program ten stars if I could. It wiped out the new and nasty class of spyware that most programs are not equipped to handle. If it happens to you, don't learn the hard way and waste your money or time. This one is all you need!
