Deep Purple MKII (Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord, Paice) is the Deep Purple of which I speak. Smoke on the Water contains the most recognized Riff in Rock and Roll. Hits like Highway Star, Lazy, Woman From Tokyo, Child in Time, and Speed King continue to drive stadium audiences to their feet(yes, they pack stadiums throughout the world, even today). They are the seminal Heavy Metal Band. Purple MKII was once rated by the Guiness Book as the loudest concert band ever. They headlined the largest outdoor rock concert ever in the United States (California Jam, 1974). I believe Made in Japan is still the best selling live album ever and in my opinion, the best sounding.
