This is what is known as an Impossible Object illusion and it was first created by the Swedish artist Oscar Reutersvärd in 1934.

It's interesting to view this image and see what side of the trangle appears to be emphasized. The odd part about it is that can pertain to any side. Depending on what stands out to the casual observer of said image.
