I'm just an average computer user and when I signed up for Qwest Internet two years ago to speed-up from 56K, I ordered 1.5 mbps. My connection was faster but a disappointment from what I expected. Nevertheless, since it was faster than my old modem, I paid for it an continued it. My son recently used the computer an remarked how slow it was on the Internet. He did a "speed test" on one of the free internet sites to test the speed of the connection and it was only transmitting at less than 256 kpbs. To make a long story short, I just finished an hour an a half of transferring from India to the U.S. back and forth 4 times to get the service I was paying for and to get a $115 credit for the overcharge for the last 23 months. As they wanted me to do, I hung up in frustration. But I'm not done. I have pre-paid legal and I'm seeing my lawyer this week. And, I'm filing a complaint with the Oregon Public Utilities Commission. That's not to mention the phony emails and 800 calls they'll be getting from this customer who they're trying to screw over. It'll be a looooong time before they hear from the last of me.
Class action lawsuit, anyone?
