Okay, so he was somewhat innovative and his live performances were entertaining with his pyrotechnic antics and extreme volume, etc. His albums sucked if you asked me. He obviously really felt like he had to tone it down for American middle class audiences. His love ballad oriented shlock and hippie-freak- psychedelic scene engratiating banter sound absolutely ridiculous, especially in 2008. A lot of his onstage guitar feedback/distortion/wah-wah antics may have sounded like WWIII in the Sixties but, they sound like a lot of pure godawful racket today if you ask me. I don't have a single Hendrix record in my entire collection and I never have because quite frankly I consider the vast majority of his recorded material to be extremely boring.
