To franks point, there are many acts in the R & R HOF that I do not consider rock acts, but since other non-rock acts have gotten in, the Carpenters deserve consideration.

At the risk of starting a big war of words on the Carpenters, of all things, the fact that the Hall of Fame has made mistakes in the past doesn't justify them making more.

On principal you're correct, however, thats what the RR HOF lacks...
