Mitt Romney (Former Massachusetts Governor)

Wiseguy

Update: Idono, abichara's post seems a little dated. Bush picked Dick Cheney for what? To carry Wyoming? VP candidates haven't done well carrying their home states recently. I don't consider Tennessee a battle ground state either. Much to the chagrin of John Kerry, North Carolina didn't work out. Romney would unite the Republican party, McCain would entice the moderates. Sounds like a plan to me. Reagan picked Bush 41 as VP, they weren't exactly two peas in a pod.

The economy will be an important issue, having Romney on the ticket would blunt the criticism that will be pointed at McCain.

Boy, if I had a nickle for everytime someone said they'd leave this country if..... But, I agree with you Wiseguy! Unfortunately, the Republicans, at this point and time, are way too divided and, you're right, Mitt could help to reunite. The Republicans are running around acting like a bunch of Democrats ~ "we'd rather throw away our vote" (Bob Duko - 103.7). Yikes ~ what a thought!

If Romney goes on the ticket, I'll consider leaving the country, especially if Obama is anywhere on the other side. Obama has no substance, and I also don't want anyone near the top who takes orders from Salt Lake City...

The process doesn't matter. Lynne Cheney was a possibility as well. Using abichara's logic, what was the gain?

Bush didn't really pick Cheney for anything except to head up the search for a VP candidate. In a Machiavellian move, he gathered all the dirt on the other contenders, then picked himself.
