The Red Sox used to be, for better or worse, one of baseball's most traditional teams, though they've been getting progressively more yuppiefied since- well- since this creature's debut at a Kids' Day game vs. Seattle c. 1997, a game I was at. One of those "One balding aging hippie white guy and two white chicks singin' songs for kids' sang a song about him and then he emerged from the Green Monster wall looking like he had 0 f****ing clue what was going on and had been doing lines off a plus sized hooker's ass about 5 minutes before. Of course, at least 2/3 of the place- including half the kids aged 6 and under booed too. Based on his Jim Hensonian appearance, my best guess is that this is Oscar the Grouch's irresponsible alcoholic brother that the Grouches tried to ignore and would not speak of in public...
