Should students be required to wear uniforms at school? 4

Finally ~ something that FranksWildYears and I semi agree upon!!  HAHA  As I told him, as a mother, uniforms are a cheaper way to get school clothes ~ and also, being the mother of girls, there isn't the "what will I wear today" debate that almost always makes us late.  A middle ground would be a "dress code" ~ that's what I had in school.  Of course you always try to "push the envelope" (had to throw that one in), to the limits of that code, but hey, that is what teems do.  My older daughter had uniforms all 12 years of school ~ it made no difference as far as "conformity" or any such thing (by judging all the kids).  But, I remember in High School where girls would basically wear Prom dresses to school (most of the kids were on the high end of rich or the mid end of poor), and it was disturbing.  Everyone trying to outdo everyone else ~ Blech!!!

Glad we finally found some common ground. I think that the main benefit to school uniforms would be that it would save my 13 year old daughter the half hour she spends every morning trying to figurre out what to wear. But I'm under no illusion that if she wore a uniform to school, that she wouldn't be out of it as soon as she got home and going through the whole process then.

Amen to that! Can't argue that it saves morning time though :)
