Donkey Kong was released in 1981 by Nintendo and featured smoother graphics than previous arcade games. The controls were simple but the game itself could be challenging. Origin of the name Donkey Kong is viewed as either word play with Donkey meaning stupid and Kong having been taken from the classic feature film. Another story claims the name Monkey Kong was misread during a fax transmission.
