Just about the entire 84-85 Georgetown squad (most notably Patrick Ewing) and were returners from the 84 championshp squad and lost only twice during the regular season. The team ripped through the NCAA tournament defeating Leigh, Temple, Loyola Chicago, my big margins before battling Georgia Tech in a tight game which they emerged victorious 60-54. The Hoyas then had another impressive performance defeating St John's 77-59 in their Final Four semi final matchup. Looking to become the first college squad to repeat since UCLA in 1973 the team ran into a red hot Villanova team, which played the "perfect game" where it made 22 of 28 shots from the field and fell to the Wildcats 66-64. Reggie Williams had played the game on a sprained ankle and was held to 29 minutes (which most people are not aware of) and perhaps if he had been completely healthy the Hoyas very well could have won the game, but Villanova deserves credit for their victory. Still despite the loss to the Cats, this team is one of the greatest college squads ever.
