Berniesmom, due to the high protein content I would not feed this food to a "puppy" especially one that young. Too much protein can trigger a growth rate that is just too fast for them and can lead to other problems. This is an excellent food. My pomeranian, Samson, has been on it since he was 10 months old. Before that I had him on Innova puppy food (it's in a marroonish/brown bag. He did wonderfully on the puppy food (skin and coat always shiney and healthy). Innova was actually the only food he eats. I would keep him on the puppy food until he's at least 10 months old (for small dog). As a rating for Evo.. I give it 5 stars. It has a very high protein content, but if you have a working dog (or a dog like mine, who doesn't eat and mainly just "picks" throughout the day) this is a good food for you. If your dog is prone to overeating, you have to watch him/her VERY carefully on this stuff. It's some great, rich food.
