One of two subjects of the 1994 documentary Hoop Dreams. Recruited and given a scholarship by Chicago Basketball Power, St Joesph's, William was labeled the next Isiah Thomas as he made the varsity squad as a ninth grader. Once regarded as the best guard in his class, his HS career was thrown a curve due to a knee injury which changed things for him. But nevertheless, William went to Marquette on scholarship but became disenchanted with basketball and wound up quitting the team. He is now a Christian minister.
