All credible research has shown that a minimum wage increase hurts the poor, takes away jobs, keeps people on welfare and encourages high school students to drop out of school. When the minimum wage went up from 4.25 to 5.15, between 600,000 and 1,000,000 jobs were lost, most of them being entry level positions. Not to mention, the payroll costs that are passed on to the consumers.
