Ridley Scott's first movie, based on a short story by Joseph Conrad. This is basically a war movie, though a very unorthodox one-two officers in Napoleon's army (Harvey Keitel and Keith Carradine) carry on a duel that goes on for 20 years across the battlefields of the Napoleon Wars. An interesting allegory, good acting, and as well-filmed as Scott's later efforts.
