I am a 26 yr old female. I've had acne for over 13 yrs now - mostly on my back and face. To the point that I rarely ever wear halters unless I know I am going to be in a very dim atmosphere. I also never leave the house without makeup. More so b/c of my redness. I would say my acne has not gotten any better throughout the years and I have been on just about every other type of acne medicine.
I started accutane 3.5 weeks ago. The first ten days I was prescribed 20mg to be taken with dinner and lots of water. I was told that I will break out at first but to be patient and I will start to clear up. I was also told to make sure my body to be covered, avoid sunlight, wear sunblock and also use vaseline on my lips. On the 11th day and currently, the doctor increased my dosage to 30mg. I have started to break out and the only side effect so far are dry lips but it isn't so severe as others mention.
