Probably the most obscure everyday player in the Hall, a contemporary of the far greater Honus Wagner, he started out as a mediocre pitcher, then became a good hitter with the old Cleveland NL team that featured guys like Cy Young and Jesse Burkett. A great defensive shortstop and probably the AL's best all around one in its first decade, Wallace had some years where he was up there in RBI's, but the average went down as the game became a dead ball one around 1903 or so. Played a really long time, about 24 years, mostly for this club.
