Excellent pitcher from 1919 to 1924, racking up a record of 126-80 after coming over from the Yankees. In 1925, he returned to the Yankees, and had a few more productive years before dying of complications from pneumonia he caught during an exhibition game.
Shocker was one of the pitchers who was "grandfathered" when the spitball was made illegal, and was the last Yankee to throw one legally.
His years with the Browns are a strong argument to make him the best pitcher in the teams history.
