Free Will--Do humans have free will, that is , the capacity to do good or evil under their own choice and volition? 5

Of course we do. I've always found the idea of predestination stupid as hell, to be honest. How is anyone supposed to make a choice about God if the choice is already made for you? Doesn't this also seem rather cruel for those that are not chosen? Here, let me put this in perspective:

"Sorry kid, you're going to Hell and nothing can change that..."

"Well FU too..."

UPDATE: Imorovan, I've read my Bible like a good little boy. That's the source of half of my really good questions. I've also read a few other things you might not have. Free your mind and at least consider my perspective before you dismiss me for not sharing your peculiar views...

Sometimes, actually reading the Bible can give you some answers.

The presumptive hubris never ends with you, does it LM. You can't seem to understand that many of us who hold divergent views from your particularly narrow ideology have actually read the Bible, some of us several times. The fact that we don't see the "revealed truths" you purport to does not, I regret to inform you, make us either damned or ignorant.

You want the really rich part? I went to a private school of a Christian flavor for six years where an hour out of every school day was spent perusing the Bible. I've read a thing or two from it, you might say...

My friend, I respect you for who you are. many believe people have to earn respect. I disagree, I respect everyone for who he/she is, and no need to do anything to earn it. I have no problem with anyone honestly and sincerely searching for the truths that we all are facing and being challenged with. When I was your age, I had some serious questions and doubts. It is normal and it is good as long as there is a genuine desire to explore and search for the truth. I cannot judge you for what you believe, that is between you and God. But I can judge the fruits that are being shown. And I have a pretty good standard to use when I judge, namely, the Word of God. Now, please be clear that judging and condemning are two different things. No one has the right or authority to condemn anyone, that prerogative belongs to God and God alone. But we are called to judge rightly. Despite many accusations of being judgmental, we are all judgmental. Like, if someone accuses me of being judgmental, it is a judgment on his/her side. There is nothing wrong with being judgmental, even a simple comment on any issue is a judgment on the validity or not of the issue. My advice: let the Holy Spirit work within you. He is the only true, faithful and righteous guide to lead us to the truth.

See, you still can't wrap your brain around the idea that I am as capable of bearing truth as you or anyone else is. Even CanadaSucks can bear truth. Cool, huh? You mentioned doubts. Hmm. I don't think I have doubts, just an unending stream of questions that I know will never have answers so long as I am in the body that I am in. We should never run our of questions, should we? If we ever ran out of questions, we would be God, would we not?

Call me a cynic, but you may have a vested interest in the positon that people don't necessarily need to earn respect.

irishgit, you judge me by your standards, and you do rightly so. But your standards are based on your conception and understanding of biblical truths. I express my understanding based on what I am enabled by the Holy Spirit to express. Am I right? Can't say I am. The Bible is right. And the Bible is not a book, like a love story or adventure book, that you read it enjoy it and put it away, likely never to pick it up again. The Bible is a living Book, a Book that everyday is fresh and anew. It contains things that can only be discerned spiritually, and in order to do that, you need to read it with your spiritual side, not your intellect. "The things of God are foolishness to those who don't believe". I never asked anyone to believe what I say, but I do ask all to believe what God says. And only the Holy Spirit can give a person the right interpretation of the things contained in the Word of God. I am a sinful, fallible, prideful, self righteous, arrogant and ignorant person. That is, I am a sinner. Only by the Grace of God I am enabled to long for and desire to search the truth contained in the Word of God. My enemy, Satan, will always stand in my way, and will do whatever he can to distract me, to create doubts, to confuse me. And he works 24/7, not to take my salvation away (he knows he doesn't have what it takes to do it) but to make the rest of my life miserable. But, when you know who your enemy is and know his tactics, half of the battle against him is won.

Frank, I respect a person for who he/she is, not for what he/she does. We all make mistakes, and if we judged based on the mistakes, we are judging the actions, not the person. Besides, there is nothing you can do to lose my respect as a person, because I respect the person, and the person can never cease to be a person.

numbah, every person has the ability to bear the truth. Everyone of them. No exceptions. Many times, however, we say or do things against our own beliefs, with the purpose of gaining acceptance of the others or climb on an altar that will satisfy our sinful and prideful nature. The truth is not exclusive to anyone, all have access to it. What we do with it is what makes the difference. Honesty is a valued attribute and virtue of a human being, but unless we are honest with ourselves, we cannot be honest with others.

numbah16tdhaha commented 587 days ago.
Am I to take that statement as you saying that I am not being honest with myself? If this is what you think then you are not open to any truth that I could possibly bring you. How then are we suppossed to converse if all you see in my words is deception?

lmorovan commented 587 days ago.
Numbah, please, don't read in my words that which is not written. I have learned some things from your reviews and your comments. You have a lot to contribute and your views are as valid as anyone else's. Do I sense some conflicting views from what you express? Yes. But that is me. I am not judging you for what you say or why you say what you say. My standards are my standards, and hey can be wrong. But God's standards are His standards, and they are always right. I confront what I say, and what you say, and what anyone says against His standard, and if they match, bingo. If they don't, then more time, more study, more meditation is required.
