I don't know that I'd call him provocative. He takes clear stances, and not always popular ones, but unlike some of us he doesn't go out of his way to poke sticks into ant-hills.
He's a damn good reviewer when he chooses to be, and despite the fact he and I have political views that are, to say the least, divergent, I try not to miss his writing.
