2.5 The Browns of the early 20's had Urban Shocker who was a legitimate #1 at the time, and several 3/ 4 guys who would've been relievers or spot starters for most clubs. In 1922 Van Gilder won 19 games and was probably better the next year- he went 16-17 the following year with a low 3.06 ERA for a 5th place, mediocre team, but was usually more of a fourth starter sort of guy- mediocre to bad in most other seasons, as were The Browns themselves, though this was their best decade.
