I notice my esteemed colleague oscar gave him two stars.....
Are you in an excessively generous mood today oscar?
If there was a worse fielding regular third baseman in the history of the game, I'd like to know who it was. Hobson couldn't stop a pumpkin from rolling up hill, and he had the same kind of agility you can witness in a fat girl chasing a poodle upstairs.
He hit with some power when he wasn't swinging so far out in front of the ball the fans on the third base line were ducking his bat.
And worst, which in fairness was not his fault, he was a great favorite of the legendary Red Sox moron manager Don "gerbil" Zimmer, who kept trotting him out on the field.
I've met Hobson, and in person he's a pretty decent guy, with a fair bit of deprecating humor about his fielding skills, but personality doesn't make up for his dismal performance on the field.
