The Godfather (The horse's head)

I'm not gonna beat a dead horse here. There is one little obscure scene in GF II, however, that is one of my favorites. It takes place at the big party at the Tahoe estate. Pentangeli is slumped in the lounge chair and his right-hand man, Willi Cicci (played by Joe Spinell), is standing up against a wall behind Pentangeli, smoking a cigarette. Pentangeli sees Fredo who comes rushing over for some old time hugs. Fredo sees the black arm band that Pentangeli is wearing (in honor of Clemenza's death...actually...Robert Castellano's refusal to work with Coppola in Part II). Well, Fredo's mood drops and says something like, "Yah, too bad about Clemenza's heart attack." Then Cicci (one of my favorite characters in the movie)...in one motion...takes one step forward, drops his head, takes a drag from his smoke and adds...

"Nah. Nah. That was no heart attack."

He then takes a step back to his original position. Aside from the word, "Champagne" and his testimony at the Senate hearing, as far as I can recall, this was his only other line in the entire production. Spinell is an interesting character...right off the mean streets of New York and, ironically, when he died in 1989, his cause of death was listed as "heart attack", although more than one person has stepped forward and said, "Nah. Nah. That was no heart attack."

Here's my guy, Joe Spinell, playing for effect, as Willi Cicci, as he whacks a mobster in The GodFather after locking him in a revolving door.
