I love the opening guitar riff, and I don't think it's bad, I kind of like it but then again I'm kind of like an acidhead that never tried acid. I don't think this is as great an album as most people seem to think, and it's certainly not as good as "Revolver," "Abbey Road," The White Album" or "Rubber Soul." Overall, the songs on "Magical Mystery Tour," some of which date from about the same time were better. It's a good album, and I used to think it was great, and some of the content of this review is because I'm tired of it- but it would probably be only about the 7th best one by them, and if I had to rank all the rock albums I've heard it would probably be, say, somewhere in the 200's.
Nobody is going to give a shit, but in my opinion, the following 1967 rock albums, and others, were as good or better:
Love's Da Capo and Forever Changes,
Moby Grape,
Velvet Underground and Nico,
The Doors,
Surrealistic Pillow,
Are You Experienced,?
Something Else by The Kinks,
Disraeli Gears,
Magical Mystery Tour, The Who Sell Out, etc...
