Solus Christus - Christ alone

Protestants believe that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between men and God, while the Roman Catholic Church claims that the Pope is the representative of Christ on Earth and he is the mediator between men and God. What do you think?

Donovon, there are at least two specific places where Jesus mentions a specific role of leadership for Peter. The first is the passage that I quoted in my review. The second is from John, after the resurrection, and before the assumption: When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep. John 21:15-17. Now as to your comment about the Church being founded after Peter's death, I would define the beginning of the Churs as either the commissioning of the apostles: Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20, or possibly at Pentecost.

Donovon, just to let you know I'm not dodging your question, but I have to get going and this deserves a little more than a one line answer. I'll get back to you on this later.

When was Peter appointed the first pope? If the Catholic church was founded after Peters death wouldn't they refer to him as a saint. Can a pope be appointed although he is dead? I am not trying to be smart here, just curious to how you believe.

That is absolutely false. Never did Jesus appointed anyone for any purpose other than spreading the Gospel. Besides, when Jesus declared those words, He was talking about building His Church on Peter's confession that He, Jesus was the Christ. One of the many, many false teachings of the Catholic Church.

It's pretty clear to me that Jesus is appointing Peter as the head of the Church, the first pope.
