The opposite is true in general, and certainly in my case. Stopping smoking in itself slows down the metabolism. Add to that the fact that food tastes better, so you eat more. Add to that the need to replace the oral fixation tha you have developed as a smoker. The result equals more of you to love. I always had to exercise more whenever I quit, to balance out the effects of quitting. Luckily, that came easier when I was not smoking.
