A high protein, low carb, grainless food.

Orijen is all I've used for a couple years now and it's wonderful. My problem is, my oldest dog is getting bored with it. I was recently in my local pet food store and they recommended a new dog food, Merrick's BG (Before Grains). The ingredients look great. I got the buffalo one and my dogs inhaled it. Some of you actually know about good/bad ingredients and know things. What is the tought on this dog food? Some other sites claim the ingredients are close and it's a good food. Anyone got any goods on it??

Thanks for any help!!

Some people feel that the use of Canola oil, over Chicken fat is a negative, however I don't know myself. In my opinion I feel that you SHOULD as you are doing which is rotating foods. Are you familiar with the Whole Dog Journal? If not google it and you might get some good info there, I subscribe to it and I know they recommend that you rotate foods for your dog ever 4 or so months. But they stress that if you rotate foods, you rotate to a different meat source, which with Merrick using Buffalo and Orijen not using it, you seem to be following the right course. I think merrick dog food is a great choice to go to!!

While I personally can't feed this food because my dog is allergic to chicken and turkey, the ingredients look great! The protein levels are not too big and not too small and there is a moderate amount of fat. I've researched MANY dog foods since my dog's allergy problems started and if he wasn't allergic, I would try this. Good Luck!
