Fear

The opposite of faith is not unbelief, it is fear. That's because both faith and fear are focused on the future, the realm of the unknown. Fear cancels out faith because it freeze us in our tracks. Fear is overcome by faith in the God who knows the future.

Just human nature. Those who lack fear tend to get killed before they get kids. Multiply that over 20,000 generations, and you get the anxiety-ridden wreck that is modern man. Some people find that Jesus helps; others prefer heroin. I stick to vodka and cigarettes.
