He can't illuminate us on what he means by "Change"

Ridgewalker

Not even his so-called allies can explain it. When Edwards endorsed this guy, he basically said that "We DO need change. We need to tear down the current structure and see what happens..." :o This doesn't work for me. If by change in the current war-time agenda...who's this guy going to turn to? He has no experience with the military. He has little-to-no international experience. He's a frickin' Junior Senator! He is unqualified to be President...

Update: I had almost forgotten about this...it's something I posted back in February....The Change Man Cometh

I think you reacted strongly to my repost with the link to "The Change Man Cometh". Here's what inspired that: I heard some sound clips of Obama using the word "change". It reminded me of the scene in Forrest Gump at the rally in DC, at the pond. The guy leading the rally...the Abbie Hoffman-like character...said, "F-ck 'n A!" and the crowd went wild. So he said it again. Roars. And again. The crowd went ballistic. He found something that worked....just like Obama found the word "change". (Comedians would call this 'good material') I admit that it works, because people need to believe, because they are being told that they need to be afraid. My problem is that I don't believe him. I believe he is a figment of a slick marketing campaign and he hasn't proved that he can implement...not THE changes...but ANY changes that will have a positive impact on our culture. He's done nothing to exhibit patriotism or loyalty to his country and his time in office has produced no significant results. It seems kinda fishy that he made it into the spotlight so quickly with such a thin résumé. I think that what you call a "simple message" is an "empty message". People have fallen for it throughout history, so it doesn't surprise me that they'll fall for it again...

Yeah, obsessive is too strong. And I also think there's a difference between "It Works" / "Good Strategy" and "Compelling Message." For example, the smear campaign of McCain in 2000 which suggested that his dark skinned child was the product of an affair with a black woman "worked" in that it secured the nomination for Bush. But it was hardly inspiring stuff. My take is that Obama has a simple message, which an abnormally large percentage of people are receptive to, and he's delivering it well.

I think so. I guess there's an implied "Change for the Better" and all that I get are Change Pies thrown in my face. I looked over his stuff...I see nothing new...a whole lot of pandering to the dissatifaction of people and nothing that will change that. I think that 80% of the People are always dissatisfied. My original question goes unanswered... Hardly an obsession...

Ridge, I'm not really getting your obsession on this point. 80% of the country thinks we're "headed in the wrong direction." What kind of moron would not run on a "change" platform? Am I oversimplifying this?

Except for the distinct possibility of McCain flying off the handle, we can expect nothing but small change from any of them.
