Appointed Procurator of Judea in the year 26 C.E., Pontius Pilot ruled in the name of the Roman Emperor over modern day Israel. As Procurator, Pontius Pilot was asked to determine whether Jesus was to be crucified or exonerated, opting to cede to the desires of the Jewish leadership and public. Pontius Pilot committed suicide in 36 C.E.
