I'm under the impression that "religious" is referring to Christians. And true Christians are not snobs, or will try their best not to be.
Also, the word "religious" can refer to anything that a person is devout to. So, by my definition, a "religious snob" would be one who practices snobbery. In this case, it might be more fitting.
