Wellness 3

I have something to say...hear me out This dog fog might be a great option for a lot of dogs especially mixed breeds or mutts. But most pedigrees or hybrid dogs the protein, and the fiber in these foods are way to high. More dogs than you think have a meat intolerance (mostly beef) if you notice your dog has a sensitive tummy and gets sudden diarrhea every couple of weeks the above mentioned premium food is most likely the problem.  Remember dogs are omnivores not true carnivores like a cat is.  This means that does in the wild not only eat meat but grains and certain vegetables as well. If these foods work for you dog that is great but to high protein can cause kidney problems and cause hyperactivity in dogs.  Also for everyone who insist corn meal and grains are such bad hash ingredients for your dog to digest then why is all the prescription foods for dogs with gastrointestinal  problem like colitis and IBS primarily contain them?  millions of dogs with digestive problems are on either Hills prescription I/D or Purina EN and have long healthy sustain life.  So don't knock certain ingredients until you know the facts.

um, my dog would eat cat poop if it could and be healthy, doesnt mean i would let him!! People love theyre cats and dogs and want them to eat good food. Nothing wrong with that. Besides, what nasty person wants to feed the animal they love food with by-products in it which includes euthanized diseased meat!! mmm! gotta feel good when you feed your pet that!!

Hot dogs and sausage contain by products but we eat them! leave these creatures alone and let them eat what makes them happy!

Yes, growing up we too fed the pets the "classics". But I would bet the same "classics" now have some pretty nasty stuff in them - nastier than back then. Unfortunately we have become "smarter" and from the business end if you can save a dime by getting ingredients at a lower cost then it helps your margins and profits and the big manufacturers do. The other problem is - even if it says Made in the US it does not mean the ingredients are from the US. (Also true about food for human consumption) Just another system that is broken.......... care for a little toxic lead with your toys? or a little melamine in your dog food? or almonella in your tomatoes? or aflatoxin in your dog's food?

Which post are you directing this comment to? most of the reviews are bad and hardly talk about by-products.

Randa, much of the concern related to THIS particular food is about the changes which seem to have taken place at the time the packaging was altered and the food began being offered at a big box pet store chain for the first time. The point seems to some to be that the manufacturer has denied a change in the ingredients or method of manufacture, yet dogs who have been on this same food over a lengthy period of time without difficulty began instantly to exhibit digestive problems. Such is the case with my own review. I do not pretend to remember the earlier ingredients or otherwise guess at the changes which MIGHT have taken place. I just KNOW that something significant and toxic to my own animals' digestive processes has be altered and they no longer tolerate the food at all. Some animals may NOT have the same sensitivity mine had. All I can testify to is that what was once an apparently ideal food for my sensitive tummy, but otherwise very healthy, dogs is now toxic. I stopped using it after testing three bags to rule out some kind of storage problem. There was no improvement. I no longer use Wellness, as a result. Oh, and BTW, these dogs LOVE fresh, raw veggies of all sorts, cheeses, eggs, and some meats . . . and get them rather regularly. Healthy is what I want for them, just as I do for myself. Wellness just doesn't get my dollar any longer, sadly.
