Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker (Episode VI)

Vader was killed by Emperor Palpatine's Force Lightning on the Second Death Star, following Vader's decision to save his son from the Emperor's wrath, and to kill his old master.

Greatest and most heroic death in Star Wars and probably all of cinema. Freshly defeated by Luke in a lightsaber duel and having his own son refuse to excute him and take his place by the Emperor's side Vader watches his son being electrocuted by his sinister Master as his son begs for help and then a miracle happens... Anakin Skywalker reawakens within the body armor of Darth Vader as he lifts up and hurls the Emperor down a shaft to his doom. Luke is saved but handling the Emperor while in effect he was a live battery of Dark Side energy cost Vader his life although at the end he finally found the peace his son so desperately wanted to show him.
