This movie isn't just blood and guts. There is a story behind it all and that is what makes the movie amazing.
There is this commoner, named William Wallace, who wants so badly to be free, yet he has no support from the Scottish nobles. There is however this one Scottsman named Robert The Bruce who sees eye to eye with William, and wants to do what is right but also doesn't want to risk upsetting the rest of the nobles. William wins a few battles against the English and still, the ones in power in Scotland do not support him and ultimately are bought out by the English. After realizing this, William is distraught and captured by the English after the nobles lay a trap on him. They turn over William to the English so that Robert The Bruce can become king (some sort of reward for William's capture) butstill with English having control in Scotland. William is beheaded and all he has fought for is lost. The nobles and the soon to be king Robert The Bruce meet the English at Bannockburn to accept their endorsement of his crown. Robert, realizing what he has to do, does not let William down and turns against the English and nobles, and leads an army of rag-tag soldiers down the battlefield to kill the English and to finally free Scotland, thus ending our epic film.
I cannot but into better words the impact this movie has, it is just INCREDIBLE.
