ScoTTrade 2

Website seems to ALWAYS be down pre-market on big news days. I log into my account about once a week, and just the first half of this year, I've caught Scottrade's website down 5 times. 3 of those times it was down well into market open. I don't understand how they could have such a blase' attitude about keeping their website running. They are cheap, however they're not the only low cost brokerage in town anymore.

I know for a fact that they were only down once time during the time frame you are pointing out and that was in April. What gets me is that reviewers like yourself like to exaggerate because one time is not a HUGE deal but it is a problem. Where you getting some kind of message when this happened or were you just unable to connect to the site? I'd really like to know. During the past several months Comcast customers in the western half of the country were unable to get to the site because of Comcast not routing them properly. As far as there customer service is concerned it is outstanding. You NEVER get some far away call center. If your local branch is busy and doesn't get to your call right away you are routed to the National service center in St. Louis, not India or some other country but right here in the U.S. Go ahead and switch to one of the other "Discount" brokers that are out there and see what you think about their service. I did. I went back to Scottrade because overall, they beat the competitors. PERIOD. Not just the discount guys either. I even got $100 back towards the transfer fees when I did.
