Never Mind the Bollocks (Sex Pistols) 5

Ground zero for Punk Rock, there were anticedents and influences on the type of music on the only Pistols album but this is the definative document of the classic period.  Listen to it today and it doesn't sound as raw and awful as it did in 1977 (1976?) but it was the template for the form and you still hear it echo in the so-called punk of today.

This 1976 album is an excellent fusion of New York Dolls and Stooges, but I daresay The Ramones (1974) had more influence on the punk of today.

Since you mentioned it, I'd say that I have to agree with you. The Ramones were at heart a rawer than raw version of a pop band and the punk that is served up today is entirely Pop-punk.
