This is a helpful site to help those who are interested in learning how to read a dog food label based on the AAFCO regulations. Just remember that a lot of these dog foods are formulated to cut costs.

Another helpful link in respect to reading a dog food label is the fda itself:

This is where dogfoodproject.com gets most of their information.

Just to correct you on the comment you left on my review. Dogs are not carnivores, they are omnivores. Cats are carnivores. I know there is a big debate over whether dogs are carnivores or omnivores. I believe you have to look at it from a revolution point of view. Some dogs I believe are still more carnivores with sharp teeth for tearing raw meat. However, many other dogs, like mine, have been bred in the civilization for many many generations that they have lost their animal characteristics. My dog for instance, doesn't have canine teeth. SD may be good for my dog but not yours, but you have to be open minded about that different people react to different food, so can dogs. SD is a suitable food for my dog, just like I said. If your dogs don't react well to SD, then don't feed them SD, I have no objection to that. But by telling me not to feed my dog something that he's been showing positive result with is ridiculous. Second, please don't stop and "think" what your dog should be eating corns or not. If you can figure that out by thinking, then you must be thinking all the scientists don't deserve to make money from doing researches or animal testings, simply ridiculous.

What kind of dog do you have? What was it breed to in the past so that it actually lost its animal characteristics? I don't think I have ever met a dog that didn't look like an animal. I am extremely interested.

It's a Shih Tzu. Every time I brought him to a vet for an annual check up, she always commented how a funny fellow he was that he never grew his canine teeth. At one time my husband accidentally locked out the dog and he was turned in to the goverment's animal control department, they put in the description of my dog as about 6 months old while he was in fact 6 years old. The missing canine teeth threw them off.
