A punk revival supergroup that formed in the late 80's have been an increasingly popular band since their 1994 breakthrough album, Dookie and have been a highly popular band since then. Another favorite of mine.

Green Day 4

  Neither as bad as their detractors claim nor as good as their fans proclaim.

However, considering the competition, they must be rated among the best of relatively new bands.
