Barack Obama 3

UPDATE: I had been talking with LJF, my sister, and I have finally come to a final decision... the decision of NOTA (none of the above). No, not for the sake of "doing what she's doing" (hey, we think differently in MANY ways), but because I, too, share her sentiments of not being pleased with either candidate. Now, I still believe with all my heart that when it comes to true morals, the agendas of both parties (and the other "oddball" parties, as well) greatly lack. Perhaps in different ways, but they do lack. And they all have their good qualities, as well. However, this is my plea to all of the Christians here at RIA (that includes myself), to make it a priority to PRAY for whoever makes it into the Oval Office -- be it John McCain or Barack Obama -- and be at peace that God will take care of us all. For God has control of everything.

ORIGINAL COMMENT (10-17-08): Now, I'm going to get bold -- even more bold that what I ever have gotten here on RIA. I've been really mulling it over in my mind, all the while still somewhat undecided, and found that I have been pointed in the direction of voting for -- get ready for this -- the team of Obama/Biden! WHAT?? A Christian voting for a "dirty, rotten" Democrat? Well, don't act so surprised. A person can vote for and/or be affiliated with any party and still be an honest-to-goodness, true-blue Christian. I do not consider myself as being "liberal" in my own moral standards (in fact, the opposite is true). Politicians, no matter what party they're from, are seriously flawed in many ways, and there isn't a one out there that's completely free of some "dirt" of one sort or another (hey, all of us have our imperfections and quirks), and I believe they all deserve our prayers, no matter what. And it's not like I'm voting for "the Antichrist". A few days ago on the news, an elderly lady told McCain that she was afraid of Obama because she thought "he's an Arab". McCain, from his own mouth, told her that there was no need to be afraid of Obama, and also admitted that he was a decent man.

As far as being a Christian and actually voting for a Democratic candidate, I have found a deep commentary regarding that: http://www.drurywriting.com/keith/democ.htm. I don't agree with every single thing there, but one can get the general idea of how a Christian can vote Democratic and still stand for strong morals.

I am still a nonpartisan, which means I vote for the person, not the party. Nothing against McCain, it's just that there are many hurting people, and I personally believe that Obama is the better choice for these hard times. Of course, he may not be experienced in other ways, but that should fall into place once he gets the feel of things -- if he's elected.

Has anyone fainted, yet?

Hey MPR... nobody can tell you who to vote for, except you.

I can't argue with that one. I just figured it was time for me to speak up. :-)

As a registered independent, I can appreciate someone who tries to see beyond the party bullsh*t and media spin. while you and I may not agree on who to vote for, we all get our one vote, and hope they count things right afterward.

Being a christian my self all I can do at this point is pray that all of you have not made the wrong decision for our country. It seems to me that all of the celebrity mumbo jumbo has swayed everyone. Our country doesnt need a president, Let the celebrities run it for us. That is what has happened in this election anyway. With the media and all of the celebrities McCain hasnt has a chance. All we can do is wait and see.

This comment is for anyone who decides they can pass judgment on who's a Christian and who's not by who they vote for. GOD is the only Judge, and everyone will have to answer for their actions. Not all people who vote Democratic are immoral or believe in abortion or the gay lifestyle, and it hurts me deeply that people believe that rotten stereotype. Hey, is it really "pro-life" when all these people are being killed in this unnecessary war? It all runs neck-and-neck to me. As for Republican being the "Christian" party... there are a lot of Republicans running around who are not Christian, or don't claim to be. I've never heard McCain make such a claim. So what does that say. On the flipside, I can say whoever voted for McCain is not a Christian, but I won't make such a claim because I am nobody's judge and jury. And I won't pretend to be, either.

It has nothing to do with the party, it has everything to do with the candidate's agenda. I would vote against anyone who condones abortion be it Democrat or Republican. I vote my conscience, not my pocketbook. If both candidates were supporting abortion I would exercise my right and not vote. Economy goes up and down, and the effects are temporary. The murder of an innocent, defenseless being is permanent. And is wrong. I will not become an accomplice.

See my recent comment posted under your review on Obama. It should explain, in detail, why I feel as I do. Take it as you will, but don't imply that I'm not a Christian because somebody might say the same about you because of some of the things that you have said in the past on this site. We all have to make sure our own back doorsteps are clean before pointing at someone else.

Bless you MPR. While I don't especially like Obama - and don't expect major changes should he win - the thought of another four years of rapid decline has convinced me to give the 'Demoncrats' a chance.

fascinating! this is why there is a margin of error in polls.

You may be right, MPR. It make take Divine Intervention to deal with the $64,000,000,000,000 (that's trillion dollars) in credit default swaps that have yet to be dealt with...
