Barack Obama

UPDATE: I had been talking with LJF, my sister, and I have finally come to a final decision... the decision of NOTA (none of the above). No, not for the sake of "doing what she's doing" (hey, we think differently in MANY ways), but because I, too, share her sentiments of not being pleased with either candidate. Now, I still believe with all my heart that when it comes to true morals, the agendas of both parties (and the other "oddball" parties, as well) greatly lack. Perhaps in different ways, but they do lack. And they all have their good qualities, as well. However, this is my plea to all of the Christians here at RIA (that includes myself), to make it a priority to PRAY for whoever makes it into the Oval Office -- be it John McCain or Barack Obama -- and be at peace that God will take care of us all. For God has control of everything.
ORIGINAL COMMENT (10-17-08): Now, I'm going to get bold -- even more bold that what I ever have gotten here on RIA. I've been really mulling it over in my mind, all the while still somewhat undecided, and found that I have been pointed in the direction of voting for -- get ready for this -- the team of Obama/Biden! WHAT?? A Christian voting for a "dirty, rotten" Democrat? Well, don't act so surprised. A person can vote for and/or be affiliated with any party and still be an honest-to-goodness, true-blue Christian. I do not consider myself as being "liberal" in my own moral standards (in fact, the opposite is true). Politicians, no matter what party they're from, are seriously flawed in many ways, and there isn't a one out there that's completely free of some "dirt" of one sort or another (hey, all of us have our imperfections and quirks), and I believe they all deserve our prayers, no matter what. And it's not like I'm voting for "the Antichrist". A few days ago on the news, an elderly lady told McCain that she was afraid of Obama because she thought "he's an Arab". McCain, from his own mouth, told her that there was no need to be afraid of Obama, and also admitted that he was a decent man.
As far as being a Christian and actually voting for a Democratic candidate, I have found a deep commentary regarding that: http://www.drurywriting.com/keith/democ.htm. I don't agree with every single thing there, but one can get the general idea of how a Christian can vote Democratic and still stand for strong morals.
I am still a nonpartisan, which means I vote for the person, not the party. Nothing against McCain, it's just that there are many hurting people, and I personally believe that Obama is the better choice for these hard times. Of course, he may not be experienced in other ways, but that should fall into place once he gets the feel of things -- if he's elected.
Has anyone fainted, yet?
