Well... Coming from a veterinarian's perspective (who has been practicing for over 13 years, and I used to be a veterinary technician myself) my mom (the doctor) has advised me that "Science Diet is not the best, but it is not the worst." So, I will give Science Diet three stars.

What is in the dog food, nutrient-wise, does matter! It's like a baby.. dog food provides proper nutrients just like a child needs proper nutrients in order to grow.

If Science Diet works for your pet, so be it. Having a boxer that is about 16 weeks I find that he has the world's most horrible gas on Science Diet. I do realize boxers are known for their foul smell, but I will be switching. I truly think if food agrees with their stomach he won't be gagging me. :) If you have gas/loose stools, chances are something isn't working out in your intestinal track, right!? :) (So true!)

It's kind of a personal choice, I'm not going to sit here and criticize anyone for what they feed as long as it's not old Roy or Alpo.. or the cheapest crap you can find. It varies from dog to dog on how they react to each food, just make sure it is approved by your veterinarian. It might take you a while to find a dog food that seems to agree with their tummy, but it will be worth it. I will be trying Canidae or Evo as that's what my mother recommended.
