Coast to Coast AM With George Noory 1

Did I hear Noory right?  He said the show has the second highest rating of  syndicated radio-dom, second only to Rush? 
That is SO hard to believe.
I must have got it wrong.

I once asked Noory if there was a place that someone with nearly 30 years of radio experince could go to sharpen their skills. He called me a loser and blocked me. Most of the names mentioned in these reviews don't want his job. The station has forced them into a more commercial posture, including the selling of guests' books. No one wants to read a book-a-day. As far as Noory is concerned, he is the least well-read of all talk show hosts. He even crossed the line a few months ago by doing that little film trivia quiz with the callers, as a way to get rid of the books that his guests have left him with. (I'm paraphrasing here): "I figure that giving them away would be better than just throwing them in the trash." He is a miserable dufus...

Goldengrain, as a courtesy to other reviewers here, please don't delete your reviews...create "up dates" to them. Most often, it makes any comments to the original review meaningless. After all, your original commment was worthy enough to have attracted a response, which probably happened every 1 in 500 reviews. Thanks

BTW, gg...I'm totally in your camp as far as Noory is concerned. Noory and I have sparred more than a few rounds with each other and I did call him out about lieing about the ratings.

I never request that my comments be deleted. Lately, when I come to this site, I see my prior comments in a box as though I'd just written them without yet submitting. I type over them and submit my new comments, not realizing that the system is deleting the old. Thank you for telling me. I will try to be aware of what's happening next time and see if I can work around it.

Oh. It seems as though you can only post here once, so if I want to spew off again, I should add the comments on the bottom of the last comment and not overtype them.

If you look around, you will notice that people start a new paragraph that starts with "Up Date:" and then write away. It helps to keep the thread together. BTW, Noory's contract ends in 2012.

Maybe 2012 really will be a new beginning! George will be replaced. He sucks so bad. His only comments are to state whats already obvious or repeat what a guest has already said, like he wasn't listening. He has a habit of saying...."I've always said...." or " I have always believed....." and then he makes a unimaginative statement expressing it like HE is the one who had this original thought. My husband laughs at me for listening on my mp3 player while working around the house and shouting out "Fuck George!" or "Shut the F up George!" every 20 minutes or so. Everything to him is "stunning" or "riveting" and he always refers to Earth as "this planet" It's Earth dummy! All we can do is keep writing the producers I guess.

There are some opinions that the corporations that control/heavily influence our government do not want to become popular. There are shills on the media who spout these unpopulist messages. Noory is so disconnected from the real issues of the day that he just plays right into their hands, agreeing with whomever happens to be airing their propaganda for the moment. The man is an airhead and less aware than many of his callers. It is probably not his fault that he is a 'slow study'. He just should not have a job that requires thinking on your feet and being aware of alternatives and ramifications.

He actually dumbs down the audience rather than raising them up to greater knowledge and awareness. Art sometimes seemed to play an issue on both sides but when he did he often gleaned new information or gave the guest enough rope on which to hang himself.

It is not an easy thing to produce a good show day after day. That's what people are paid the big bucks for. Noory may be a very fine person, it's just that he has not the requisite talents for this job.

I've taken to finding podcasts on itunes to supplement Coast shows. I listen to Coast less and less because of Noory. I've written the producers and referred them to this page and others what else can you do?
I know what you mean and have said so on another site. I'm sure he's personally a very nice man. I think it takes an exceptional intellect to do a show like that 5 nights a week. I couldn't do it, and unfortunately he can't either.
It's such a drag because the format is great. Thank God we haven't heard from Doctor Morgis and they quit playing that UFO phil song EVERY week. If Noory totally had his way, that crap would be on every night.
