Meat (Mammals)

reviewed by FranksWildYears

The mammals are the class of vertebrate animals characterized by the presence of mammary glands, which in females produce milk for the nourishment of young; the presence of hair or fur; and which have endothermic or "warm-blooded" bodies.

Is there some reason we have to break up the various classes of animals for discussion?  Is there a line to be drawn between the accepatability of eating mammals versus foul or arthropods (Yum!).  My daughter's friend said she wouldn't eat anything that had a mother.  So her mom went to the effort of researching and preparing vegitarian alternative dishes for her, until she caught the little brat at McDonalds once.

Interesting question - is there a reason to break them up? I originally created this list until RIA bought it. The reason I split up the animals is because people view them differently. People who will not eat mammals often eat fish or poultry. Peter Singer, the utilitarian philosopher, and author of 'Animal Liberation' gives his tentative OK to eating shellfish, but not dairy, for instance. I was interested to read how or if people assess different types of animal food differently.
