Thanks a lot, we needed that lashing! You have to be black or half white to understand what it is like not being born with privileges everyone else takes for granted.

Black people have not forgotten that Obama is half white. However, I do believe that if Obama had such an issue being classified as the first African American president, something would have been said by now. His background is well known and WE ALL are well aware of his family background. Some caucasians won't allow black people to forget that Obama is half white because this is their way of justifying the fact that he's not "fully African American". You are right, black people has the opportunity to achieve whatever they set their minds to. I agree with you on that. But an African American must put in triple work to succeed. As far as black people saying they feel as though they can do anything because of President Elect Obama, this is their way of saying they are more motivated and inspired than ever to achieve their goals and dreams. Haven't you ever had the desire to do something but wanted some motivation? Then one day you happen to see someone on tv or read about someone that succeeded at something and it inspired you to want to go ahead with your goal?? This is what black people mean when they say they feel like they can do anything. They have just received great motivation from Obama. One last thing, if Obama completed a form that asked to check his ethnicity/race and his options were: American Indian, Asian, Black/African American, Middle Eastern, White. Which one do you think he'll choose??

Well, my question for asking what ethnicity/race would Obama choose is because you felt the need to highlight the fact that he's half white. The race card was initially thrown with your "half white" comment. You're right, some people did vote for him because of his race and also because of what he stands for. Majority Obama supporters DID NOT vote because of his race. Rev. Al Sharpton tried running for president at one time too. He's also African American and as you can see, he didn't win nomination. Therefore, the race factor may have been the reason for some but definitely not majority. I work hard for my money too. But for those that choose to do nothing - let this be their problem and just continue to focus on striving for you. No matter what, it's not going to be perfect.
