Von Rath should've been unknown Nazi wallpaper in the German embassy in Paris.But the Nazi's stepped up persecution of Jews in Germany and tried to deport around 12,000 Jews with Polish backgrounds to Poland.Poland didn't want them,so they were stuck on the border in bad conditions.17 year old Hershel Grynspan,living illegally in Paris heard about this and on behalf of his parents went into the German embassy with a gun and blasted Von Rath.In retaliation on November 9-10,1938,the Nazi's unleashed an organized riot  known as 'Kristallnacht'(Night of broken glass) that destroyed/seriously damaged most synagogues and businesses in Germany,around 100 Jews were murdered in Germany,thousands of Jews were sent to concentration camps and more restrictive laws were applied to Jews;Jews could no longer own guns....the late great former heavyweight champ Max Schmeling,who would later be hunted as a major war criminal hid two Jews(Henri and Werner Lewin) in his apartment and helped smuggle them out of the country.
