Barack Obama 5

I'm not going to say who I voted for but I will say those who voice opinions should get their facts straight. He is not a muslim. Just because he's pro choice doesn't mean he's suggesting women get abortions he is only saying it should be their choice. If abortions became illegal their would be women dying from attempting to do abortions on their own.The tax break is only for those individuals makingover $200,000.00 per year. There are ignorant people that make less than $200,000.00 per year stating " I work hard for my money and it's not fair that lazy people get a break............shaking my head. Do these people feel that those people making $200,000.00 should get tax breaks over the school teachers, police officers or store clerks making less than $60,000.00 a year.I'm not going to say everyone's opinions are due to racism but I do think a lot of it's a lack of educating themselves with the facts. I truly love the fact that we are able to vote and have our voices heard but people please go to facts.com before you say things that aren't true because you only sound stupid. I was married but by husband left us and I raised my child alone. I was a police officer for 4 years and went to college and earned a Master's degree in Homeland Security. I'm an African American female and has never received welfare nor Medicaid. I have a lot of white friends and since this election I don't know if I can call them my friends. I have never used the race card because I never had a need to. Now I see with my own two eyes that white people are very racist exspecially the low income ones.

AJR, I think you used one wrong word when you said "The tax break is only for those individuals making over $200,000.00 per year." I think you meant to say either "The tax INCREASE is only for those individuals making over $200,000.00 per year" or "The tax break is only for those individuals making LESS THAN $200,000.00 per year." And yes, although Obama's election indicates we've made progress in reducing racial discrimination, we have a long, long way to go yet. There still are plenty of white racists out there. I'm sure there are plenty of racists, period, still out there. Black racists, Hispanic rascists, Asian racists, etc. We just have to keep on trying to discourage racial prejudice. There's a recent study that's encouraging that showed racial prejudice can be eliminated fairly quickly given the right conditions in which different races come into contact, so there's hope for the human species. I've read that it's probably genetic dating back to the first humans who had to fear attacks from humans in different tribes, so quick recognition of the differences in other humans became a successful survival instinct that became genetically ingrained. I encourage you to check with those whites who up to now you have considered friends about whether they still can be friends. You might be surprised at how many white people have overcome racial prejudice and actually feel friendlier to other races since Obama's election.

i can agree with you on the abortions i voted for him because i believe people should have the right to do whatever they want with their body. if a women is raped. i dnt think she should be put threw having a child with the face of haterd (in my opinion) .. another thing there are more then white racist i am white & i am far from it but in my speech class i found it very odd how all the black kids in my class has NO IDEA what he was standing for or his morals and my teacher being a black african american even said "if you are educated you voted for him for the right reasons". it just apauls me that people are still stuck on the race card and cantget over it we are all equal and about your friends they are your friends regaurdless they just have opinions maybe ones you dont like to hear but some people just like to be rude, its educated people like you and i that voted for right reasons. But as they say " we bring our history with us everywhere" when ppl realize we can finally move on and accept the change.. the Race card will be thrown out.. thank god!

Correction to my statement earlier, the tax break is for individuals making less than $200,000.00 per year. Thanks Silverfox 33:-).

I'm sorry that you feel that way about low income white people and that some of us have given you that impression. I am one, but I am not racist, I voted for Obama and I am so excited to see what the future brings. Don't give up on all of us just yet.

Amen, moveon, amen. And we whites shouldn't give up on people of color. There's reason to hope we all can overcome our racial prejudices. Like most things, it will just take time, so we need to be patient with each other (and with our President-elect, as he has cautioned).
