I ask anyone who claims this is not a sniper rifle to examine the Militarys M-24 and tell me different. you can be a cock and say its stock is different or whatever but its this rifle model. the mechainical bolt action and parts are of the same design since its launch which I believe was in the mid 1960's.

Just to clear things up about the "Remington Sniper Rifle," I had an experience that I want to share with you. Several years ago I was at a gun show in Sarasota Florida. I had a S&W 9mm that I wanted to trade for a rifle. A young man(early 20's) was walking around with a rifle in a case..We got to talking and as it turned out he was looking for a 9mm. I traded him straight up. While I was looking over his rifle, he commented that his father used it in"The war." I just smiled and said "Hmmm." which was my nice way of saying "You don't know what your talking about, young fella."..Several weeks later I wanted to get some info in the rifle, so I called Remington, who put me in touch with their resident expert who had recently retired. I gave this man the serial number and seconds later he told me that the 7mm mag rifle was made in 1968. He also said that the barrel would look blued, but was actually "blackened stainless." This was true, as I had already looked under the attached Weaver single retical scope and saw some of the black worn away. I chuckled when I told him about the seller telling me that it was used in "The war" The man told me that this story was very possible because in the late 60's The U.S. Military had realized the value of snipers in Viet Nam. Since there was no real designated "Sniper rifle" at the time, the Military began sending stock hunting rifles fitted with whatever good quality scopes they could find. He also commented that my 7mm mag would have been ideal since the 7mm mag round was a flat shooting round and could cover long distances more accurately. He also told me that the Remington brand ammo would be the only round that I would ever want to use since it was ideal for this rifle. I had already tested that too..and he was right...Just thought I'd add my two cents for those doubters...That guy I spoke to from Remington probably knows more about this rifle than all of us put together.
