That 'liberal media' left the Mormon issue quite untouched because it was apparent that Romney hit critical mass and wouldn't get the nomination. Goofy zealots don't think much of Mormonism and those damn book-reading-types don't think much of a false interpretation of a fraudulent theology that espoused that (until the 70's) that black people didn't have souls.  Many people want Romney to distance himself from these and other unpleasant things in Mormonism- but Romney's been a good boy because he hasn't been challenged by the media on his religion.

Still, in Mass. Romney went to the center on many issues and was an efficient leader in Mass.  (Mass!)  He saw his electorate and made some intelligent and proper political moves.  Too bad his party still seems mystified by this winning formula.  Romney's future is in the air at this point- but make no mistake, the media didn't touch his religion the way they probably will in 2012.  Three today- but this could change at any time.
