Solid effort from the director. But it's dark. Daaaaark. Depressing. Watch as a jazz musician slowly commits suicide. Hooray! A solid yet unspectacular effort by Eastwood.

Would not dream of mincing words with CS in regards to the mood of this movie, but can't see how else to tell the tale of Charlie Parker but in this dark fashion. It is a very mature turn from all concerned.
